How long are the classes?
Group sessions (max 5 students) are 90 minutes
Individual sessions are generally 1 hour, but can be adjusted as needed.
How often do students usually have tutoring sessions?
Most students meet once per week for SAT and ACT prep, and complete practice tests between sessions.
Students receiving math tutoring generally meet once or twice per week, depending on thestudent’s needs.
How does the tutoring work?
SAT and ACT prep tutoring sessions include strategies, tips, and tricks specific to each test, as well as skill-building and concept reinforcement. We utilize practice tests and review all incorrect answers with the students to ensure thorough understanding.
Math tutoring is student-led: we work on homework problems, test review or preparation, and any other questions the student is having with the material in school. When possible, we introduce an upcoming topic so that the student has a head start when the class discusses it.
How many sessions are needed to prepare for the ACT or SAT?
In general, 6 to 8 sessions prepare a student well for each test. The need for more or fewer sessions is dependent on the student’s prior test preparation, the number of times the student has taken the test, the student’s goal score, and the time available before the test date.
